"Father's Day Only: Leaf Carving Workshop"

Botanic Union and Bespecial Wood Carving & Woodcraft collaborated for the first time, launching a two-time only " Father's Day Exclusive: Leaf Wood Carving Workshop " at @botanic_union Gardening Space on June 17th.

June 18th is Father's Day, a special day to express gratitude to your dad. If you're looking for a unique way to express your love, we have an event not to be missed: the Leaf Wood Carving Workshop.

In this workshop, the instructor will demonstrate and teach woodcraft and basic carving techniques, allowing participants to shape a piece of log into a heart-shaped leaf plate wood carving themed "Klein's Candle Plant." This is not only a very interesting experience, but also the best opportunity to express your love, allowing you and your father to create a unique wood carving craft for your favorite dad! Very interesting!

The workshop fee includes instructor fees, tool rental, related materials, a drink and cake. In addition to experiencing the workshop, participating friends can also stroll in the @botanic_union garden, admire various plants, taste delicious food, and let go of their daily worries.

·Plant introduction:
"Klein Flower Candle" is an indoor foliage plant that is full of green all year round. Its leaves are heart-shaped, with unique veins, clear and beautiful, forming beautiful patterns. It can be used to decorate the room, making it feel elegant and pleasing to the eye. It can be placed in the living room or study room for appreciation , adding to the green atmosphere of the family!

·Instructor profile:
@bespecialshop Bespecial Wood Carving & Woodcraft was established in 2013, gathering a group of friends who love wood and sharing more interesting woodcraft experiences with everyone. Two wood carving artists, Vivian Law and Justin Chan, use wood carving art to promote a subtractive life and achieve synchronization with nature. They studied in places such as Taiwan and Dongyang, Zhejiang, and dabbled in modern and traditional perspectives. Now based in Kwun Tong Studio, he focuses on art creation, school teaching, community workshops, product design and other fields, integrating wood carving into the bustling city.

Time: 10-12pm, 3-5pm
Location: Botanic Union, Pu Town - No. 65, Jialiaoxia, Lam Tsuen, Tai Po (buried under Hangxi)
Cost: $580/person (including instructor fee, tool rental, materials, a drink and a cake).

Course content:
- Introduction to woodcraft and carving
- Understand the fiber structure of wood
- Leaf plate carving techniques
- Polishing and painting of wooden utensils
- Knowledge on daily maintenance of wooden utensils

This event welcomes people over the age of 18. Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by their parents.

*** This event welcomes people aged 16 or above to participate. If parents bring their children, children may not be suitable to participate in the carving part because the workshop involves the use of knives. Children are welcome to admire the plants in the garden first and participate in the polishing and oiling process later in the work.


Class instructions/precautions

· Doing wood carving requires strength, so be sure to eat before class.

· There are knives and other tools on site, so it is recommended to wear closed-toe shoes.

· Woodworking is dangerous. We will provide guidance on correct and safe tool usage techniques. However, the course does not include insurance. Students should follow the instructions and assess their own risks and abilities.

·The class will start on time, please arrive on time. If a student is late for more than 15 minutes, no make-up instruction will be given to accommodate the progress of the entire class.

· You can take photos in class, but please do not record or video without permission from the instructor.

· This workshop has a class size of 6 people. If there are not enough participants three days before the event date, the workshop will continue as scheduled at Bespecial Wood Carving & Woodcraft Kwun Tong Studio.

·If the participant is unable to attend due to any accident, the tuition fee will not be refunded.

· If typhoon signal No. 8 or above and black rainstorm are still hoisted 2 hours before class, the class will be rescheduled and tuition will not be refunded.

· In case of any dispute, Botanic Union and Bespecial Wood Carving & Woodcraft reserve the final decision
