仙人掌科專用營養土肥沃，排水性好，非常適合不喜歡積水的仙人掌和多肉植物。其主要成分實際上能夠讓它們暫時在根部保留大量的水份以供植物補給養分，但同時，也必須具備優秀的排水性能，避免積水導致爛根。
配方中添加的0-3mm的浮石可以確保最佳的孔隙率。
通常來講，種植仙人掌植物科需要高溫條件，即使在冬天，也需要在陽光充足的情況下才能長得好。如果戶外氣溫不低於5-6度，它們在戶外可以安全過冬。
